RELIEF CONCERT RAISES OVER £loo

The flood relief concert in the Opera House last night, sponsored by the Gisborne Thirty-Thousand Club to augment the flood relief lund, was instrumental in raising over £IOO for the fund. The house was practically full and an excellent programme of music in ail its phases and also some of the lighter types of entertainment was presented, the programme being representative of individuals from every musical and theatrical society in Gisborne. The president of he Gisborne ThirtyThousand Club, Mr. P. W. Bushnell. briefly introduced the performers and later Major E. R. Elliott, chairman of the flood relief committee, offered his thanks to the performers for their splendid effort, and also to all other relief workers.

The performers were: Cosmopolitan Club Orchestra, conducted bv Mr. T. W. Lighton; Mr. Brian Sherriff, tenor, vocal solos: R.S.A. Male Voice Choir, conducted by Mr. T. Birchnall. partsongs; Miss Molly Skillen, pianoforte solo; Gisborne Society of Magicians, potpourri of magic: Mrs. C. K. Williams, who annotated her Maori songs; St. Andrew’s Prebyterian Choir, conducted by Mr. T. Birchnall, concerted vocal offerings; Maureen Keany’s dance nupils, who danced an Irish Jig; Mr. David Lee. humorous item, representing the Little Theatre; Mr. Tom Lyle, violin solo; Mr. H. C. Gregory, bass-baritone, vocal solo: Mr. Harold Dover, legerdemain: Mr. Will Keanv, "In Lighter Vein,” representing the Gisborne Repertory Society: Mr. Les Wilson, hill-billy cameo; Stuart Sheet's Dance Band, swing selections.

The accompanist was Mr Wilfred C. Kohn Mr. L. E. Strachan compered the show, and the stage manager was Mr. J. Livingstone. v
