AIRCRAFT MISSING

FLIGHT TO NEW GUINEA (10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, May 14. The Civil Aviation Department reports that a twin-engined DH 84, which was en route to Australia from Its annual airworthiness inspection, Is missing between Lae, Nev' Guinea, and Horn Island. Torres Strait. The plane, which belongs to Mandated Airlines was carrying freight but no passengers and only the pilot was aboard. A search by an R.A.A.F. Dakota from Port Moresby yesterday failed to find the plane. Catalinas will join in the hunt today.
