The dual success of Single Direct at Epsom last Saturday has brought his stake winnings for the current season to £7205- Since he had his first start, in which he was unsuccessful as a two-year-old the five-year-old son of Bill B and Loyal Direct has contested 27 races for 10 firsts, eight seconds, and six thirds, his total earnings reaching £10.420, exclusive of two gold cups valued at £IOO and £SO respectively.

“Politelv but firmly,” reports the “New York Times.” the United States Golf Association advised Mrs. Babe Didrikson Zaharias that her presence is not desired in the national open Kolt championship at the Riviera Country Club, Los Angeles, June 1.0-12. Mrs. Zaharias said some time ago that she would like to be the first of her sex to compete in the classic. The golfing fathers, taking alarm, have amended their rules to read ‘for men only.’ ‘As the championship has always been intended to be for men, the eligibility rules have been rephrased to confirm that condition.’ says a communication from the association’s office.”
