DAIRY PRODUCTS

u.k; needs more (P.A.) ‘ HAMILTON, April 29. A message of appreciation from the British Minister of Food. Mr. J. Strachey, to the dairy farmers of New Zealand' was received by the chairman of the New Zealand Dairy Board, Mr. W. E. Hale, during the annual Morrinsville ward conference of the board. Mr Strachey said he would be obliged if'Mr. Hale would convey to the representatives of the dairy industry his appreciation of their efforts to increase the production of dairy produce during the 1947-43 season. “New Zealand,” he said, “continues to be the most important supplier of butter and cheese to the United Kingdom and therefore the volume of your production has a large influence on all ration levels. These have been very low for a long time now and I should be grateful if you would tell your conferences that we urgently need much larger supplies of all classes of dairy products and that we will continue-to need them for mai|g years ahead.”
