PARCELS FOR BRITAIN

EXTENT OF N.Z. AID (P.A.) WELLINGTON, April 29. Food for the United Kingdom dispatched during the three months. .January to March, through the Post Office overseas parcels service aggregated 925 tons, an increase of 160 tons oyer the same period of last year, said the Postmaster-General. Mr. F. I-lackett. This food was dispatched in 228,331 individual parcels. Last year's figures for the same period were 761 tons in 199.808 parcels. Parcels for Britain put overseas dispatches last year up to over 5300 tons, said Mr. Hacked. In normal times before the war the average annual parcel postings to Britain totalled only from 20.000 to 23,000 parcels. Last year's total for the 12 months was i 261,554 parcels. These figures gave a good idea of the way in which New Zealanders were giving assistance to their kinsfolk in Great Britain, said Mr. Hackett.
