£250,000 ROBBERY

JEW TERRORISTS’ HAUL TEL AVIV BANK VAULTS (10 a.m.) JERUSALEM, April 27. Irgun Zvai Leumi terrorists today seized nearly £250,000 from Barclay’s Bank in Tel Aviv. The terrorists, just after dawn, visited the homes of all Barclay’s Bank directors and cashiers and demanded, at the gun-point, matched keys, all of which must be used together to open the vaults. They beat some officials before they could get their keys. Two terrorists, wearing military police arm-bands, entered the bank just after it had opened and asked to inspect the Haganah guard which was kept inside against a possible terrorist attack. A larger group of terrorists then rushed in and disarmed the guards. The terrorists herded the employees into one room and opened the vaults with the keys. They took about £250,000 in cash and negotiable securities and escaped in waiting taxis.
