POISON ACCIDENT RABBITER’S ORDEAL PROMPT ACTION BY MATE (P.A.) NAPIER, April 21. Only the prompt action by a friend and the immediate dispatch of an ambulance saved the life of Mr. Karl Mourtisen, aged 23, rabbiter, Napier, yesterday afternoon. Mr. Mourtisen with his partner in a rabbiting expedition was mixing poison when strychnine was accidentally spilt on his cigarette papers and tobacco without his knowledge and in this way. was transferred to his mouth. When Mr. Mourtisen showed signs of pain his friend communicated with a Napier doctor who advised him to administer a saline solution as an emetic. Mr. Mourtisen was in convulsions when his friend returned, but the treatment was effectiveOn the arrival or the ambulance further treatment was given and he was removed to hospital where his condition is reported to be satisfactory.
