HOME DELIVERIES
N.S.W. SHOPKEEPERS COMPULSORY MEASURE SYDNEY, April 14. A bill introduced into the New South Wales Legislative Assembly provides for a penalty of £SO on shopkeepers who refuse to make home deliveries “if required to do so." Under the bill the Department of Labour and Industry may force shop keepers to make home deliveries of goods which were delivered before the war. It defines such commodities as groceries, fruit, vegetables and meat. The bill states that if it is reasonably practicable for a shopkeeper to make home deliveries, and if he refuses to do so, the department may cancel the registration of his shop or refuse to renew his registration. It provides for a fine of £IOO or six months gaol for making a false return. Shopkeepers within five miles of a general post office must deliver within one mile of their shops and those outside that area within two miles of their shops.
