The Government has ordered the Health Department to investigate "medical charlatans” and fake patent medicines, according to a statement by the Minister of I-leaith, Mr. C. A. Kelly, in the Legislative Council. Fie added that the Cabinet would consider the departmental report as soon as jt was complete. Mr. Kelly was replying to a question by Mr. W.'M. C. Gollan (Labour) who asked if he would bring down a bill to prevent “people of the type of Mr. Braund" from practising. “The report was not only adverse to Mr. Braund,” said Mr. Kelly. “I have taken the view that there are many people operating in the community who are a menace to public health and pocket.” Mr. Braund has stated that he intends to sell the secret of his cancer cure and that he expects the sale to be completed within the next fortnight.
