WITHDRAWALS HELD UP
CANADIAN CREDIT HEAVY BRITISH DEMANDS (10 a.m.) WASHINGTON, April 14. It is learned authoritatively that Canada has informed the British Treasury that, as from today, Britain will not be able to draw upon the unexpended balance of the 1,250,000,000 dollar credit granted her in 1946. The balance stands at approximately 250,000,000 dollars. The withdrawals will be suspended until further notice. A Canadian source explained that Britain s withdrawals on her Canadian credit had been much faster than contemplated and had reduced Canadas reserves to a dangerous degree.
