NEW TROPHY PRESENTED MEMORIAL TO PATRON A period of silence in respect to the memory of the late patron, Mr. E. Ward, whose death had occurred since the previous assembly and in token of sympathy with the bereaved relatives was observed at the annual meeting of the Motu Rugby Sub-union in Matawai last week. A trophy to be known as the Edward Ward Memorial Cup was accepted with thanks from Mrs. Ward. It is to be awarded to the winning side in the sub-union "knock-out" competition.

It was decided to commence the season's play with the annual match, Married v. Single Men. on Saturday. It is to be played on the Matawai ground commencing at 1.30 p.m. The season's senior competition is to commence on April 24, Motu and Matawai meeting on the Matawai ground. The election of officers resulted: Patron, Mrs. E. Ward; president, Mr. R. M. Twistleton; secretary, Mr, R. H. Twisleton; committee, Messrs. L. L. Thompson. D. A. Richardson, F. Boyle, J. Mason. T. Collier, J. B. Spring; delegate to P.8.R.U.. Mr. L Lamont Appreciation of the continued interest evinced in the game in the district whs voiced suitably by the president, who also expressed the confident hope that the coming season would prove notably successful
