MR. J R. lIAIR, chairman, and Messrs. II J. Lougher, R. C. Murphy and E. \Y. McEnnis will be the delegates of the P.B. Catchment Board at the annual conference of the New Zealand Catchment Boards’ Association, to be held at The Hermitage, Mt. Cook, from May 8 to 13.

MR. J. R. HAIR presided at yesterday’s meeting of the P.B. Catchment Board, which was attended also by Messrs. R. Graham, D. W. W. Williams, P. Ngata, P. A. M. Reveirs, hi. D. Chamberlain, A. E. Madden, E. W. McEnnis, C. li. Cox. G. M. Newman, H. J. F. Tombleson, E M. Monckton, R. C. Murphy, H. J Lougher, and H. M. White.

MAJOR LEONARD 11. WILLIAMS and Mrs. Williams left Turihaua station today and leave Auckland by air for England on Friday, a day earlier than previously expected. They will arrive at London next Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. II B. Williamss, sen., Turihaua, and Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Williams, jun., Ohui. also left today for Auckland.

MR. A. D. BAYFIELD will retire from the position of manager for New Zealand for the Federal Steam Navigation Company on March 31, after nearly 42 years in the service of the company, lie joined the staff on July 1. 190(1, when the New Zealand and African Shipping Company, Limited, represented the Federal Company. On March 1, 1934, he was appointed manager for New Zealand for the company. Mr. Bayfield is well-known throughout New Zealand as an administrator ot sport. A champion oarsman in 1904, he has been a member of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association for 40 years and has been chairman for the last 10 years. He has also had a long connection with Rugby Union football and the New Zealand Olympic and British Empire Games Association. He has been chairman ol : the executive of the latter body for some years. Mr. T. S. Marchington, D.S.C.. R.N.R., assistant manager for New Zealand, will succeed Mr. Bayfield in the senior position in the Federal Steam Navigation Company.— P.A.
