NEW TREATY SIGNED

BRITAIN-TRANSJORDAN DEFENCE CO-OPERATION (11 a.m.) . LONDON, March 15. The Foreign Office spokesman announced that a British-Transjordan alliance, revising both the old treaty and its military annexes was signed in Amman today. The terms, which were agreed to after only one week’s negotiations will be announced this week. It is considered in diplomatic quarters in London that there is far less risk that local opinion will reject the new treaty as occurred with the Anglo-Iraq treaty. It is believed that the new treaty provides for future Anglo-Transjordan co-operation through a joint defence board instead of Britain’s present rights to station troops in Transjordan.
