WOOL FOR BABIES
ASSURANCE TO MOTHERS (P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, March 16. Although supplies of baby wool, white flannel and similar fabrics are in extremely short supply, expectant mothers will be given preference for these items. This decision was reached at the annual conference of the New Zealand Retailers’ Federation at New Plymouth. It was pointed out that it was not possible to guarantee supplies, but on the presentation of their supplementary ration books expectant mothers would be assured of every consideration. The present shortage of baby wool, it was stated, was attributable to the overseas supply position. The stock position of white flannel was unlikely to improve until more labour was available to the local mills.
