Bing Crosby’s Regrets.
The American singer Bing Crosby has "blushed with shame” for his error in calling the Maoris “natives of Australia.” A copy of his letter, in which he made this statement, has been forwarded to the Mayor of Auckland, Mr. J. A. C. Allum, by the former Auckland public relations officer, Mr. J. NRouda, who is now in America. Mr. Rouda had drawn the singer’s attention to the fact that, when introducing the song, “Now is the Hour,” Mr. Crosby had referred to the Maoris of Australia. In his reply, Mr. Crosby said he would correct the error next time he sang the song.
