OTAGO SPORTS RECORD

Sir.—On reading "Dunedinite’s” letter in Thursday’s issue, I thought that the writer had plenty of time at his disposal. I do not dispute his statements —they are facts — but the impression given is that “We are the people.” Well there are just as good in Poverty Bay and elsewhere. I was born and educated in Dunedin. My mother was also born there, and her father was a sergeant of police in the days of the gold escorts in Otago, so naturally I am a bit on the Otago side. But why rush into print to tell the rest of New Zealand how good we are? This is my first (and I sincerely hope, my last) effort as a public letter writer. If "Dunedinite” wishes to establish my identity, you have my permission to divulge it. NEW ZEALANDER.
