NO OUT-DOOR FILMS

PARK DOMAIN PROJECT There would be a definite fire risk and therefore the request should be declined, staled the reserves committee of the Gisborne Borough Council last night in a report on an application for the screening of outdoor pictures in the Makaraka Domain. The recommendation of the committee was approved by the council. The town clerk, Mr. W. M. Jenkins, said he had interviewed the superintendent of the Gisborne Fire Brigade about the screening of pictures and the utilisation of the grandstand as seating accommodation for patrons. The superintendent did not favour the proposal in view of the fire risk, and even if patrons were prohibited from smoking on the stand it would be necessary to have one or two attendants to see that this instruction was carried out. In addition.'it would be necessary to have an attendant on duty for a period after the screening to make sure that no lighted cigarette ends had been left.
