MR. AND MRS. F. COLIN PERRY, Wellington, who are en route to Opotiki, are visiting relatives in Gisborne. MR. J. W. PERRY, Auckland, was reelected president of the New Zealand Master Butchers’ Federation at the annual conference in Dunedin, —P.A. DR. G. N. FERNER, of the Christchurch Hospital, has been awarded the Dr. P. A- Ardagh Memorial Prize, given by the Canterbury Park Trotting Club, for the best medical student of the year. Dr. Ferner is a son of Mr. Raymond Ferner. S.M.
THE CHIEF JUDGE, JUDGE D. G. B. MORRISON, and Judge I. Pritchard, Auckland have arrived at Gisborne for a sitting of the Maori Land Court to re-investigate the allotment of shares in the Mangatu Block, for which reinvestigation special legislation has been obtained. The sitting, which commences on Thursday will last until Easter.
THE RT. REV. J. W. SIMKIN, Bishop of Auckland, is to attend the Lambeth Conference of Bishops in Britain from July 1 to August 8. Other representatives of the Province of New Zealand will be the Primate of New Zealand, Archbishop West-Watson, the Bishop of Nelson, Bishop Stephenson, and the Bishop of Aotearoa, Bishop Bennett. The conference is the first to be held for 20 years. Bishop Simkin. accompanied by Mrs Simkin, leaves Auckland on March 17. ,
