WIND WRECKS TENT

BIG LOSS TO CIRCUS REPLACEMENT COST £2OOO (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, March 10. The tent of Skuthorpe's circus and rodeo, claimed to be the largest tent in New Zealand, was wrecked yesterday afternoon by wind. There was a high wind in the city, accompanied by heavy rain squalls, and at about 1.40 a gust got under the “big top." The poles collapsed and the guy ropes were blown loose. The canvas was caught by the wind and pulled by the large middle poles was ripped to shreds. It is unikely that much of the canvas will be in a fit condition to use again. The tent, which measured 155 ft. by 100 ft., is estimated to be worth £2OOO.
