NO DECISION YET

INDIA-EMPIRE RELATIONS MR. NEHRU'S ATTITUDE (10 a.m.) NEW DELHI, March 9. Mr. Nehru, Premier of India, in the Legislative Assembly, said that India’s relations with the British Commonwealth had yet to be decided, but one thing was certain, namely, India would be "a completely independent and sovereign Republic or a Commonwealth.”

This did not mean that India should not associate closely with particular countries, but India must first concern itself with internal affairs. The less it interfered in international conflicts the better, but if its own interests were involved it might be forced to side with the great Powers, even with an imperialist Power.
