Mr. T. H. Shields was re-appointed last night as the Gisborne Borough Council’s representative on the Gisborne High School Board of Governors.
Mr W. H. Price was last night reelected chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board for the seventh successive year, constituting a record for that office— P.A.
* At last night’s meeting of the Gisborne Borough Council there were present the Mayor, Mr. N. H. Bull, and Messrs. F. Tolerton, G. J. Jeune, G. D. Muirhead, J. H. Hall, R. Morse, I. J. Quigley and W. C. Kohn. Mr Justice Callan has been granted 12 months’ leave from the Supreme Court Bench from March T. His Honour was to have taken leave earlier, but it was deferred during the war years on account of the pressure of litigation in the Supreme Court. He was appointed a judge of the Supreme Court in 1935. At yesterday’s meeting of the Cook Hospital Board there were present Mr. J. B. Williams, chairman, Mesdames E. R. Scott and I. Kurzweil, Messrs. G. W. Armstrong, H. H. Barker, P. F. Barker, H. Cooper, H. H. Dods, J. H. Hall and W. C. Kohn. Leave of absence was granted Messrs. H. J. F. Tombleson and A. M. Trafford.
Several staff changes are pending at the Gisborne railway station, these including the transfer to Wanganui of the station-master, Mr. A. W. Le Brun, after only eight months in Gisborne. Mr. Le Brun goes to Wanganui on December 22 as the assistant district traffic manager, and will be succeeded by Mr. H. Crawford, Hastings. Mr. R. M. Fleming, of the goods department at the Gisborne station, is on transfer to Hastings and his successor in Gisborne is Mr. E- F. Crosbie.
