Dr. Edward Musgrave Blaiklock, M.A., Litt D., associate professor of classics at Auckland University College, has been appointed to the college chair in classics which has been vacant, since the resignation of Professor C„ G. Cooper in January—P.A. At yesterday’s meeting of the P.B. Catchment Board there were present Messrs J. R. Hair, chairman, F. W. R. Graham, D. W. W. Williams, P. Ngata, P. A. Reveirs, H. deO. Chamberlain, E.' A. Madden, E. W. McEnnis, E. M. Monckton, R. C. Murphy, H. J. Lougher and H. M. White. Leave of absence wag granted Messrs G. M. Newman and H. J F. Tombleson.

A former Gisborian, now an officer of HjM.N.Z.S. Beilona, has been renewing old friendships in this town. Lieutenant James Hutton, formerly rector of the Gisborne High School, now holds the position of educational officer aboard the cruiser. Since his retirement from, the services of the Gisborne High School Board Mr Hutton has been associated with the New Zealand Navy. His first appointment was a rehabilitation officer at the naval base at Auckland. He was subsequently posted« to H.M.N.Z.S. Achilles and accompanied' that vessel to England. He was then transferred to H.M.N.Z.S. Beilona and has been serving on this ship during its recent visit to Australia and the cruise through the Pacific islands.
