DUTCH TOTAL 84,200

(11 a.m.) THE HAGUE, Dec. 16. Tire War Minister LieutenantGeneral A. H. Fievez, stated in Parliament that the strength of the Royal Netherlands Army in the East Indies would in 1947 average about 84,200. The relief of troops would be considered if the situation rapidly improved.

The formation of Dutch forces in Europe “suitable for mobilisation” would be possible only after the return of troops and volunteers from Indonesia. The Ministry disclosed that 716 men of the Royal Netherlands Army and the Royal Netherlands. Indies Army were killed between October 15, 1945, and November 15, 1947, and a further 92 were missing.
