PRESENTATION MADE

MOTOR TRADE TRIBUTE MR. HOLMES RETIRES A tribute to his long association with the motor trade in Gisborne was paid to Mr Harry Holmes last night when fellow members of the-- trade tendered him a social evening in the Bon' Accord Lounge. On behalf of the Gisborne branch of the New Zealand Retail Motor Traders’ Association, the president, Mr Spencer Allen, made a presentation of two fireside chairs and a smokers’ stand to Mr Holmes and referred to the respect in which he was held by members of the trade. Mr Holmes had been a motor dealer since the trade was practically in its infancy and during the years he had built up not only a good business, but an honourable name for himself. A visitor for the evening, who also paid his respects was the president of the New Zealand Motor Traders’ Association, Mr Andrew Dysart, Hastings, who referred to Mr Holmes’ long and honourable association with the motor business. Mr Holmes suitably replied, thanking those present for their hospitality during the evening, and also for the manv kind things that had been said about him.

During the evening items were given by Miss Annette Hamilton and Messrs. Bayzill Hacche and D. Dyer.
