Use of Cargo Lighters

Lighters are again being used to give a measure of relief lo Auckland port, congestion by bringing cargoes to the waterfront from vessels at anchor in the stream. They were alongside the New Zealand Shipping Company's motor-ship Rakaia for two days last week, and, following the berthing of this vessel, they were used yesterday at the Cape Ortegal. which arrived at the week-end. The Cape Ortegal has a record Montreal shipment of 6000 tons for Auckland.
