GREATER GOODWILL
BRITAIN AND AMERICA NO OBSTACLES SEEN LONDON, Dec. 12. There was no reason why differences in the British and American economic systems should hamper the natural development of Anglo-American relations, said the United States Secretary of State, Mr. G. Marshall, in a speech in London. , .. . , In different circumstances they had evolved different approaches to modern economic problems, but he was confident that this offered no serious difficulties between two peoples'enjoying a common heritage. They should proclaim the existence of benefits of a relationship unique in history. Mr. Marshall regretted that propagandists had gone to such lengths that people were again fearful of war. We must restore the belief that people can live together in peace and understanding,” he said. The most impressive factor at the moment was the surge of American opinion favouring the alleviation of Enrooe s suffering.
