JUDGE REFUSES BAIL
LOWER COURT UPHELD BURGLARY ALLEGATIONS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 13. An application by Roy Vincent, a milkman, and Robert Spring, a labourer, for a Supreme Court order to Lower Hutt city justices to grant them bail was refused by the Chief Justice, Sir Humphrey O’Leary, yesterday. Vincent and Spring stand remanded till Tuesday next on Charges in conection with breaking and entering of the Lower Hutt Post Office last weekend. The Crown’s opposition was on the grounds that, if they were allowed to be at large there would be a danger that the appellants might commit further crimes. For the appellants it urged that the refusal of bail if continued after the appearance oh Tuesday, might mean that they would remain in custody until the next sittings of the Supreme Court in February. His Honour said the appellants were charged with serious offences and grave circumstances surrounded them. He refused bail.
