TABLE TENNIS STAR

WORLD TOURNEY EVENT (P.A.) WELLINGTON. Dec. 13. Russ Algie (Otago), the New Zealand table tennis champion, sailed on the Hornby Grange from Wellington this morning for England where he will compete in the 1948 world championships beginning at Wembley Stadium on February 4. Algie, who won the Dominion title four times in as many attempts, will be the first New Zealander to compete in a world tourney and his entry increases to 31 the number of countries to be erepresented. Algie said he hoped to compete also in the all-England championships following the world event.
