HAMBURG, Oct. 17A British war crimes court acquitted Hans Stumpff, a former Luftjvaffe Colonel- General, of having passed on a German High Command order forbidding German escorts of captured Allied airmen to protect them from civilian attacks. Stumpff, who commanded Germany’s home air forces, testified that he refused to issue the order and returned it to Keitel with a strong protest.
