Heni Materoa Home Collection

The Gisborne Junior Chamber of Commerce's house-to-house collection for funds for thfe proposed new Heni Materoa Children’s Home returned £159 on Saturday. The chairmun of the “Jaycee” sub-committee organising the collection, Mr. A. J- C. Webster, said yesterday that Kaitl, Mangapapa, Whalaupoko ' and Victoria township areas had been covered on Saturday. The public had responded in a most generous fashion. Because of the inadequate number of collectors coming forward it had not been possible to cover the whole of the suburban area and the committee intended to complete the collection next Saturday.
