STAFF KEPT BUSY
A. & P. SHOW ENTRIES RUSH OF COMPETITORS Almost half the competitors chose yesterday, the closing date, to make their entries for the P.B. Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s Show, on October 17 and 18 in Gisborne, which will open the circuit of spring shows. • Earlier in the week the secretary, Mr. A. R. Traftord; reported the situation as depressing This morning, although he had been unable to make a definite comparison, he stated that the entries would probably be about on a par with last seasons record total. , . . All stock entries were down on last year, he added. The time of the year was too early for fat lambs and several breeders of beef cattle and sheep this season had not entered. In the home industries section there seemed to be fewer entries of sewing. Produce and poultry entries were about on a par with the figures for last year. More dogs would be shown this year than before. ...... Mr. Trafford expected that there would be some change in the position when, late entries accepted on -Monday were included in the totals.
