LIVES ENDANGERED
TRAFFIC BREACHES MORE PROSECUTIONS AUTHORITIES CONCERNED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept.' 6. "The executive of the Municipal Association of New Zealand is. greatly concerned with the flagrant disregard by some motorists of the traffic regulations. ’ stated the president of the association. Mr. E. R. Neale. M.P. ‘Disregard by motorists of the traffic restrictions on speed, particularly in boroughs traversed by main highways, is a danger to the lives and health of other road users besides the occupants of the offending vehicles.” Mr. Neale said the association was very conscious of the excellent educational work being done by the Transport Department and other publicspirited bodies such us the Junior Chambers of Commerce.
His executive considered that the danger to pedestrians t>nd road users generally could only be met by the prompt prosecution 'of all offenders, particularly in cases of excessive speeding, wherever evidence could be obtained to support a prosecution, and further by the rigid enforcement of the penalties against all offenders who were found guilty on prosecution.
