PARTY ORGANISATION ACTIVITY INCREASING A general review of the organisational side of the National Party was «iven to members of the Cook County area of the Hawke's Bay electorate at a meeting in the National Club rooms last evening, Mr. J. B. Williams presiding over an attendance that was representative of the nine branches in the area. , ... The chairman of the Wellington division of the party, Mr. D. O. Whyte, reviewed the more recent activities of the Dominion executive. He emphasised the importance of the rank-and-file of the membership having every possible opportunity of making its views known and thereby exerting its influence on all the activities of the party. Mr. Whyte referred to the growing strength of the party and congratulated the branches represented on being so completely organised. Mr. J. Connor, chairman .or the Hawke’s Bay electorate, explained the difficulties resulting from the boundary changes. The Hawke's Bay electorate had become most unwieldly, but they were extremely fortunate to have the northern end so well organised and having the advantage of central headquarters in Gisborne. Features of the organisation in the Wellington division and of the, increasing activities in various electorates were dealt with by (he divisional secretary, Mr. Thco Hills. Mr. Hills referred to the" great work done by those pioneers who had gradually built the party front its formation in 1936 and urged all members to play their part in preparing for the day—now not far distant—when the party would become the Government. „ . , On the motion of Mr. I. J. Quigley, chairman of the Gisborne electorate, the visitors were accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
