Land-hungry Kiwis

Evidence that the land-hunger of the Kiwi returned men is still far from being satisfied has been given with a section at Omapere, Hawke’s Bay, of 542 acres of sheep-farming country. For this section, which is to be balloted for today in Napier, there were 130 applicants, the number being graded down to 65 who will enter the ballot. The 65 Includes one Gisborne man. In the near future the Lands Department will offer for selection by a Kiwi serviceman a single-unit orchard property near Hastings, for which keen competition is expected.
