CANADA EXTENDS TIME
TARIFF RELAXATION IMPORTS FROM BRITAIN (10 a.m.) OTTAWA, Sept- 4. At Britain’s request, Canada has extended until September 15 the deadline for the re-imposition of the pre-war tariff on British goods. Trade officials said that the duration of easier tariff schedules may be further extended in view of Britain’s economic crisis. Canada in 1940 lowered her tariffs on a number of imports from the United Kingdom to assist Britain’s wartime effort to export goods. These tariffs, covering a wide range of products, would normally have been restored to the pre-war level in June.
