NICKEL COINAGE

ALL DENOMINATIONS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 5. The authorisation for the issue of cupro-nickel coinage in New Zealand is contained in the coinage proclamation, 1947, published with last night’s Gazette. As was annourced in the House of Representatives recently by the Minister of Finance, Mr W. Nash, the new coins will be of 2s 6d, 2s, Is, 6d and 3d denominations and the designs and size will be the same as those of the coins at present in use.
