DEATH ANNOUNCED
REV. T. W. ARMOUR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 25. The Rev. Thomas White Armour, one of the best-known figures of the Presbyterian Church in New Zealand, died at his home in Christchurch early yesterday morning. Mr. Armour retired from the Knox Church when he reached the retiring age of 65 years. He then accepted an appointment as commissioner of the maintenance of the ministry committee of the General Assembly and remained qn indefatigable worker until illness compelled him to retire. He was born at Kirkintilloch, Scotland, and educated in Glasgow- At the age of 17 years he entered the service of the Glasgow Corporation, but resigned to study for the ministry at the age of 21. While a minister in Scotland Mr. Armour was prominent in the nolicense campaign. In 1924 Mr. Armour received a call to succeed the Rev. R. Erwin at Knox Church, Christchurch, and he remained in that charge until his retirement. He was a member of the board of governors of St. Andrew’s College for 16 years and for two terms he was modHe is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. A. W- Thomson, and one son, Major K. I. Armour.
