EGYPTIAN CITIES
CLASH WITH MOSLEMS (N.Z.r.A.— Router— Copyright.) (10 am.) CAIRO, Aug. 24 The police in Cairo, Alexandria and in the canal zone were on the alert yesterday for demonstrations against Britain and the United Nations similar to those on Friday in which two Egyptian policemen and a demonstrator were killed and 79 people injured. The army was ordered to stand by. The Premier, Nokrashy Pasha, sent a cable from New York appealing for restraint and patience. The police, clashed with 1000 demonstrators marching along the Sherif Pasha street in Cairo shouting, “Down with England and America,’’ says the British United Press correspondent. The mob stoned the police, who withdrew into a side street where they reformed, charged and dispersed the mob which comprised mainly members of the Moslem Brotherhood.
