THEFT OF FOUNTAIN PENS

(P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH. Aug. 14. The disappearance of 1000 ballpointed fountain pens from the overseas steamer Kent, which will leave New Plymouth today for Great Britain, when the ship was at Auckland resulted in the appearance ot Alexander Grey, chief steward on the vessel, in the Police Court in New Plymouth yesterday. The charge, to which Grey pleaded not guilty, was of stealing three fountain pens, valued at £5 2s, the property of the Federal Steam Navigation Company, Limited, on or about, June 16lie was convicted and fined £2O by Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M.. after a hearing that occupied most of the day.
