TARIFF INCREASE
BRAZIL’S INTENTIONS APPROVAL AT GENEVA GENEVA, Aug. 8. United States and Brazilian sources said the international trade conference had approved of a 40 per cent increase in Brazilian import duties. Brazil argued that as its currency had depreciated about 47 per cent, an increase in tariff schedules would not do more than maintain the status quoThe negotiators of other countries said that there might be a stampede for similar concessions for other countries.
