EX-KAISER/S WIDOW U.S. ARMY POLICE HUNT PROBE INTO DEATH SOUGHT (N.Z.P.A. —Reuter—Copyright.) (10 a.m) BERLIN. Aug. 11. The United States Army C.L.D. has asked the Russian occupation authorities to make a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of the Kaiser’s widow, Princess Hermine, who died on August 8 at Frankfurt-on-Oder in the Russian zone. The C.I.D. spokesman pointed out that the medical report gave the cause of death vaguely as heart failure and added there was no trace of Princess Hermine’s valuable Crown jewels. The correspondent says that the United States Army is questioning Vera Herbst Prince Ferdinand’s beautiful brunette friend, in connection with the death of Princess Hermine and the loss of the Hohenzollern Crown jewels. Prince Ferriinald. the late ex-Kaiser's stepson, who protested against being given an injection ol truth serum by United States Army officials who are investigating the loss of the jewels; said that family jewels worth £2.000,000 were taken to Berlin several weeks ago and were now in American safe keeping. He added that jewels worth £500,000 disappeared before the case containing the collection was entrusted to American care.
United States Army investigators said tonight that while they were searching for 29 pieces of jewellery which were missing, they discovered two new caches of hidden jewels _ belonging to Princess Hermine. It is said that. Prince Ferdinand's sister, Princess von Schoe-naich-Carolath, had returned about 30 pieces of Royal jewellery which she had concealed in her apartment.
