SHIP’S OFFICER INJURED (P.A.) INVERCARGILL. Aug. 12. Crushed by a cask of tallow during loading operations on the steamer Samlamu at Bluff. John Smith Turnbull. aged 53, chief officer, suffered injuries to. the chest and was admitted to the Southland Hospital. His condition is satisfactory. The accident occurred at one of the hatches. Prompt action bv the hatchman prevented Mr. Turnbull from falling into the hold.
