Parcels For Britain

The onset of new privations for the people of Britain, arising from the acute economic crisis there, has resulted in a quickened interest in tiie dispatch of food parcels to the United Kingdom from New Zealand. In this connection the Gisborne Returned Services’ Association is expecting daily the arrival of an acknowledgement of its earlier shipments of parcels, of which 500 have been dispatched to ex-service comrades _in Glasgow through the British Legion there. The association’s programme of parcel dispatches has received substantial help fiom many sources, but its maintenance involves a considerable financial outlay from month to month, and various efforts on behalf of the parcels fund I are being prepared. The Kiwi social committee’s ball, to be held next SaturI day at the Army Hall, is one of these functions which should secure substantial support from the public.
