PARK GOLF TROPHY

SUCCESS OF HOME TEAM WAIROA PLAYERS’ VISIT The feature of the week-end golf at the Gisborne Park links was the contest between teams representing the Wairoa and Park clubs for the Tangney Shield. A series of interesting matches, both single and four-ball, • resulted in favour of the home team.

At the conclusion of play, Mr. T. Tangney, donor of the trophy, presented the shield to the captain of the Park team.- Messrs. deLautour and Smith, on behalf of the Wairoa team, congratulated the winners and thanked all concerned for a very pleasant day. Mr. L. Lunken replied for the Park. A bogey match for members not taking part in the shield match was won by M. Taylor with a card of 3 up. A medal match was won by L. Jackson, closely followed by L. Roderick and R Muir. The Dryland Cup again changed hands, when T. W. Bayliss and E- Bayliss defeated the holders, R. Watt and Hook, 3 and 2. The new holders of the Lunken Cup, Jones and Mrs. lnnes, proved equal to the challenge of Playfair and Mrs. Playfair in a match which finished' all square.
