HAIFA EXPLOSION
JEWS IN STOLEN TAXI (11 a.m.) JERUSALEM, Aug. 10. An explosion in a taxicab carrying four Jews in Haifa injured one Jew whom the police took to hospital. The others escaped. The taxicab, which was stolen, crashed, and exploded after it became out of control when running downhill from Mount Carmel. It was loaded with explosives. The explosion shattered windows over a radius of 300 yards. ESCAPE FRUSTRATED JERUSALEM, Aug. 8. Two British paratroopers who tried to enter Syria Pom Palestine have been returned to their unit under close arrest, says Reuter’s correspondent it: Terus 'l'. -n. Earlier reports trrm Syria described them as police officers attempting to Ore from Palestine because they feared the situation there.
