CONGRESSMAN SEEKS BAN COMMENTS ABOUT JEWS (9 a.m.) WASHINGTON. Aug. 11. Mr Emanuel Celler, Democrat member of the House of Representatives for New York today asked the State Department to instruct all United States Consult abroad never again to grant a visa to Viscountess Astor.

Mr Celler’s action followed a statement by Lady Astor on her departure from New York aboard the Queen Mary

yesterday that “I don’t care how many Jews are killed in Palestine. My only interest is in the number of innocent British who are slaughtered.” Mr Celler described her statement as ghoulish and added: “Lady Astor has again abused her privilege as a visitor to the United States. There is only one way to stop her. She must be kept out of her native land. Let her vituperate in her adopted land, Britain.”
