NO TITLES IN INDIA
ASSEMBLY’S DECISION FOREIGN AWARDS DISLIKED (11 a.m.) - NEW DELHI, April 30. The Indian Constituent Assembly decided that the new India would not confer titles, and also that no Indian should accept titles from a foreign State. The Minister of Home Affairs, Dr. V. Patel, said that many British titles had been surrendered because they had lost their value. Those who wanted to retain their titles could do so.
