MOSLEMS ANGERED
PARTITION PLAN BENGAL AND PUNJAB DENOUNCED AS SINISTER (ti 1.30 a.m.) LONDON, April 30. The president of the Moslem League, Mr. Jinnah today described the Congress Party’s demand for the partition of Punjab and Bengal as a sinister move, actuated by spite and bitterness. “I hope that neither the Viceroy nor the British Government will fall into the trap and commit a grave error,” he added. Mr. Jinnah, repeating the Moslem League demand for Pakistan, said the transfer of power to Pakistan must also mean the division of defences. “The defence forces should be completely divided and I believe they can be divided before June, 1948,” he declared. The Viceroy, Lord Louis Mountbatten, returned to New Delhi today after a two-day tour of the North-West Frontier Province and Rawalpindi district. Mr. Gandhi will arrive tomorrow. He is expected to center with the Viceroy and report on the communal situation in Bihar and Calcutta.
