COMPENSATION CLAIMS
SOUTHLAND EARTHQUAKE (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, May 1. Claims for compensation for earthquake damage have been made by a number of farmers in the southern district. These are believed to be the first claims ever made in Southland under the earthquake and war damage regulations. Most of the damage for which the compensation claims have been lodged are confined to cracked or broken chimneys. The earthquake occurred just before noon last Thursday.
