DISCOVERY OF COMET
ASTRONOMER HONOURED ( p a ) TIMARU. May I. Mr. A. F. Jones, a young amateur Timaru astronomer, has received advice of his election as a fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society (London). On August 6,194 G, he discovered a comet. Mr. Jones has been advised that he has been awarded the Comet Medal, of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific for his discovery. Mr. Jones has recently been interested in the comet Rondanina-Bcster which was found in South Africa two months ago. He believes that he has seen the comet, and has reported his observations to the Carter Observatory.
